    Insurance

Just in the middle of changing my contents insurance. I have decided to return to Hiscox as it had been my broker that changed things. Like for like insurance was actually going to be half the price of my last insurer! I confess however to being scandalously under insured and putting things up to the correct sort of level - about 3 times the previous amount Embarrassed still shows a premium of about the same amount. Just waiting for the underwriters decision - (jewellery rather than B&O is the discussion point!) but Hiscox could not be more helpful.

However the best bit was when I rang to cancel my other insurance - they asked who I was going to and when I told them, said 'Oh, they are a good company!! One of the best!'  I don't think one can get a better recommendation!

    Re: Insurance

Well first of all, I'd suggest that a moderator adds this onto the other 'Insurance' thread in the "people & lifestyle" forum, rather than the general one.

Secondly - while I'm on the subject - I'd encourage everyone to have a look through the other forums, there's more than just the 'General' one

Thirdly though (and more on topic) I went to Bradford and Bingley who offered me a great deal. Previously Norwich Union had me at £25 per month. B&B increased the amount I was insured for, included my expensive watch away from home, and cut my monthly premium to £19 in exchange for a decent sized excess.

I was insuring my home contents - more B&O related - I had noticed your watch problems. I actually had no problem with my watch though it probably is not as expensive as yours - only about £1300! We do however include both watches and jewellery worn and estimated that my wife has about £10,000 on at most times. The only thing slowing up the final quote was not actually the amount we carry with us but more what we leave behind!! Not sure why you didn't get a better quote. But I agree that shopping around is always a good idea. Just make sure you compare like with like though. Hiscox replace new for old as I have discovered in the past and along with Footman James, who insure my Triumph, seem a small friendly company.
