    MX 4000 Beo4 - Type 7824 - 7832

    Hi,

I wonder if you can help me in detecting the problem in my TV.

    Synptoms:

    1. During the last 2 - 3 days, the TV began to display only in B&W
    2. After that, it switched off, but if I tried to switch it on again, it stayed on for about 1 minute and then off again.
    3. Today, it does not switch on anymore, if I try to push TV on my remote control, I see the red led to go off and on again, but nothing happens.

I would like to know the nature of this breakdown in order to understand if it is convenient to repair the TV or not.

It's a fantastic TV, I love it but I want to have your opinion before putting my hands into it.

    Thank you

    Alessandro

    Alessandro,

What you have here is the safety circuit being enabled to protect the TV. This happens on these sets when one of the following occurs:-

    • One of the power supply voltages is missing, over voltage or overloaded.
    • A bus error has occurred with data between the various IC's
    • There is an error in the EEPROM

A B&O engineer can put the TV into service mode by using a jumper and it will show him the error which has occured. With this information an assessment can be made of the likely fault and therefore cost to fix it.

I would have it fixed if it was previously working perfectly.

    Regards Keith....
