    Output levels

I have a Beocentre 2200 that I wish to use to transfer music from records to CDs using either a computer or video recorder.

There is an output jack at the front marked "Headphones"  Which I assume is stereo.  I need to know what the output level is and whether it comes from a pre-amplifier.    Can anyone please help?       Len.

    Re: Output levels

    Hi Len,

    Welcome to BeoWorld Smile

If you want line-level for recording to external device,
i guess you could use the socket for the extra tape recorder.
    (called TAPE COPY)

    Re: Output levels

Hello Ignace,   Many thanks for your reply, I think the "tape copy" output is called a Din connector? I do not know what the connections are but perhaps they are standard. I may be able to get a lead suitable for connection to the computer. I have mislaid the original manual, which is why I was asking about output levels as I don't want to damage the computer. Regards, Len.

    Re: Output levels

Is that connector a circular one with 5 or 7 pins ?

You can use a DIN-to-RCA-connector, like this one f.e.,
    available at electronics store.

I used to use this kind of connector to get line-level signal (of a TAPE-socket) to an active (amplified) subwoofer).

you can use the headphone socket as well, you just need to set the volume, to all most max then the output is the same as line level..

    Re: Output levels

Hello again Ignace,  Many thanks for your info.  Yes it is a 5 pin socket and I believe the connections are 1&4; 3&5 but don't know which is left and right.     I have found a suitable plug in the Maplin catalogue, I now need to sort out the computer end.

What is standard level? is it 1v p-p?    Regards, Len.

    Re: Output levels

Hello again Ignace,  I was unable to get a DIN to RCA lead. But did get a 5 pin DIN plug and I have a RCA to RCA lead.

I plan to cut the RCA lead and solder to the DIN plug thus making my own lead.    My problem is, that I do not know the connections, ie, left signal and ground, and right signal and ground.  Please can you or anyone else help. Many thanks, Len.

    Re: Output levels

The top diagram is the one you want.

Ignore pins 6 and 7, they're not needed at all, and your plug won't have them. They're only used on special 'Datalink' connections, all the other connections are the same as a standard DIN plug.
