Hello everyone!

With the new - and in my opinion awesome - update for the BS5/BM5 that enables remote control/play from a iphone to the BS5 this also opens up a huge discussion on what app is the best to use together with the BS5?

I have tried several and for now I am settled with "iMediaControl" but in my opinion this has several flaws:

1. When you "surf" on the BS5 with the iphone/iMediaControl you cannot choose a song and add it to a "BS5"-playlist or "to be played after the song that currently are being played

2. You cannot play songs from the iphone on the BS5 - I know this might be that Apple has locked down this functionality so that people might only use Airplay - but still !

3. You cannot play any radio stations - or control these from the iphone to the BS5

I think it is. seems to work smoothly with no glitches. Only problem I have is not all cover art is shown but I think that has more to do with the format I have the art in than the app itself. Also, if the B and O system is off, selecting a track on the iPad will cause the entire system to turn on. No Beo 4/5/6 needed to start music playing. Volume can even be adjusted on the iPad and the volume display on my BV7 will respond and show the changes. I would note that the volume numbers displayed on the iPad will not be the same as on the BV7 although both will be changing as volume is changed on the iPad. Also, the volume adjustment on tye iPad is very sensitive and it is easy to increase volume too much as there is a slight delay from changing the volume on the iPad until the B and O responds and changes the actual volume.

What about an app that can start the radio-stations on the BS5?....

and what about streaming music from the iphone to the BS5?.....

I have streamed music from the iPhone with Twonky. I think it can be done from eLyric also but have not yet tried it.

I use plugplayer. Volume works perfect and almost All cover art is working. Making playlists is very easy. This app does everything I wanted to begin with when I bought BS5

I have also had problems with plug player. I can connect it but then the interface is very slow. It does not respond to touches of the iPad screen and when it does it locks up briefly.

What is the problem Matze? iPhone or IPad?

I have a Problem to add beomaster5 as mediaserver to plugplayer (ipad1-Version), do i have to connect manually by entering the beomaster ip adress at Plug Player? thx matze

When you select devices, don't you see beomaster 5? Is media server turned on?

Musicserver is activated, do i need to Enter ip Adress at Plug Play manually?

1. I have tried a lot of apps, but I'm still searching for the one that can make my BS5 look cool like normal NMusic playing. I want it to show nice 500x500 resolution covers on my BS5 when selected on my IPad. 2. All players seem to stop after one song on the selected CD when selected on my IPad? I like eLyric. Can add multiple items to a playlist. Has option to "shuffle" and "play all" in some screens. As for cover art, some of my tracks have cover art that looks exactly like when I play N.Music. Some are perhaps of a slightly lower quality, and some are missing. I am thinking it has to do with the manner I loaded the music. The few sample songs that came pre-installed on the Beosound look just as they do in N. Music mode,....beautiful.

App will also turn entire system on and can adjust volume from it, but is a bit touchy. The volume display will even respond on my BV7.

I have elyric too, but i can't power off beosound 5 with it. Somebody have a tip? I use beosound5/ beomaster5 and the sound on my beovision7.

With elyric it is possible to have a server different (from beomaster5) a nas for example and the player is beosound5 !

But i can't see beomaster5 on the server only some other NAS

I do not know of any way to use eLyric to power off the Beosound 5. I use the Beo 4/5 to turn off.

I have Beomaster 5 appearing in my eLyric as an option for both server and renderer.

thanks Razlaw . I haven 't beomaster 5 as an option for both server  and renderer, only beosound5 for lecteur (renderer). May be there is an option in beosound 5 to activate? because i see all the others dlna/upnp server ( NAS synology, Imac,..)

is there a way to read on beovision7 the movie (.avi, .divx on beomaster5) with an ipad app as we listen audio?

eLyric will power my BV7, BS5, and speakers on for music. I don't think there is any app that will do what you you are looking for.

I ended up here also to find answers on why my iPhone4/iPad2 app [ UPNP Songbook '11 ] doesn't see my Beomaster 5! And so I posted here. This post might be one answer to your question abour what App is best to use with BS5. My B&O dealer has UPNP Songbook '11 running flawlesly with his BS5. With me it's a bit unstable I still don't know why. Could be that I have my BM5 hooked to my LAN via a Devolo AV500 powerplug. Still trying to figure it out.
