Beolab 8000 - possible damage from power surge

I have Beolab 8000 speakers. I think they have been fried by a power surge. The power light is red, but no sound comes through from my cd player. Can you let me know how to repair - no B&O dealer in Mauritius, so I need to have specifics for an electronics guy to have a go at fixing for me. Many thanks

    Hello!

Please tell us more about your setup; how is your CD Player connected? Red light indicates power but system "off"; so no chance to get sound! only green light indicates awareness to play sound!

And what kind of CD player? A B&O product or something else?

Need much more information to help you!

    Regards Elmar

PS: Mauritius is a place where I would prefer to be at the moment myself!

Thanks Elmar. My speakers are connected directly to a BeoSound 3200. It's working ok, with the one remaining speaker. The BeoSound is plugged into a surge protector, whereas the speaker I have a problem with is not. I have tried unplugging power and sound cables.

Make sure you check for the obvious - like the SETUP switch. Make sure it's set to L or R, but not LINE.

Hi, I am very surprised your fuse board did not trip. Have you tried both 8000's using the power and sound cables from the remaining speaker ?

Many thanks to all forum members for your replies. I just had another power outage, and when the power came back, the "damaged" speaker came back to life. Must have been some sort of reset that worked. Many thanks to forum members though. I was about to perform the reset procedure when the outage happened. I guess this illustrates that the 8000's are robust enough to handle a power surge.
