Price increase 1 December
I'm sure this news to warm the cockles on the lead up to Christmas, but instead of giving us the much-anticipated Q4 new products, we're getting a price increase instead :)
I've been told it's likely to be 1 December and between 3-5% across the product range.
The important point is, if you're considering a purchase, it might be wise to get this in before the end of November.

Wait and see ... ... still 6 weeks left to the end of Q4!

The new price list for Central Europe has now been officialy released - increase will be 2.5% to 2,75% and will affect most, but not all products.

Well, B&O's prime target audience has a recession the day the sun explodes.

Re: Price increase 1 December
When I discovered B&O in the late 80's, the company was famous for having prices that were not moving during the whole commercial life of a product..
Now it's the other way round
An guess what: I can't remember when was the last time I bought something new from B&O!
Reunion Island is greeting you!

Take a look at the Beolab 2 for example:

- Source: Beocentral.Com
It costed almost £900 more in 2010 than when it was realeased in 2001!
And it's the same story with the Beolab 8000's, but then over 20 years.
- Dennis
I was borned with a Beolink 1000 in my hand!
Ever seen a Beomaster 6001? I have one! Look here.
Main system: Beovision AV9000, Beocenter 2300, Beosystem 3500, Beolab Penta MKIII, Beolab 3000, Beogram 6500, Beolink 1000, Beolink 5000, Beolink 7000
Wish list: Beolab 2,

Did I just dream that there was mention of "readdressing" pricing when Tue took the reins?
Or was it only me that took that to mean downward rather then up!
Generally speaking, you aren't learning much if your lips are moving.

Re: Price increase 1 December
Yes B&O is a premium brand - We all know this. But the Beolab 2 pricelist above puts into persepctive how out-of-hand the pricing has got! How can the price DOUBLE in 10 years?!?
The dealers struggle with this as much as the end-users and IMO the pricing needs to be restructured in line with the products...
For instance I still see 'lab 5's as good value at their current list price but the cost of Beovisions is well over the top.

Good news it's less that some dealers were speculating (most likely to get me to buy something before the end of the month ;), but it's still amazing that they choose December for their "Merry Christmas! Oh, did you notice we raised our prices?" message. Surely 1 Jan would have been more appropriate?

Re: Price increase 1 December
2.5 to 2.75% is for Central Europe = Eurozone Increase may differ in other markets using different currencies ...
Keep in mind: Exchange rate Euro <> DKK fluctuated during the last 10 years less than 1% while the GBP, compared to the EUR (= DKK) lost approx 25% over the last 10 years.
A higher increase of prices in the UK may therefore be the result of a weaker Pound. Sorry folks, being an "island" sometimes has advantages and sometimes disadvantages!

A good example of "Narcissistic Struer Thinking"
It's quite presumptuous to believe the "rest of the world" understands the beginning of the 2nd half of the business-year as a "reasoned date" of importance outside Struer.

Re: Price increase 1 December
Give Tue a chance.. he's only been sat on the horse a few months and he's not exactly fallen off yet!
Yes, i did chuckle when the new products were delayed - and i could see Tue having a private 'swear-fest' when he came to that decision, but i trust him.
For those that have met him, you'll know he inspires confidence in his ability. The board also believe in him and have given him much more scope to do as he wishes - and if he says 'no, wait' then i'm inclined to stick with that decision.
Better to wait for a good product than have a crap one early. Hey, it's an improvement.. we got crap ones late in the past!

Re: Price increase 1 December
Steffen:
Seems like Tue's way of saving the company is to outsource more and more of the production to low-cost countries, like the Czech Republic and China -and then still raise the prices...
I am sure he is facing a very tricky balancing act ... I would rather have the company survive so I continue to grow my investment and get enjoyment from it for at least one or more decade(s)
I am sure Tue is surrounded by many conflicting opinions about which way forward is right ... and probably some of them are equally right (right = survival) even if they are orthgonal from one another (low price/quality, mass market versus top end, niche market)
It would be interesting to see how MB's finances were affected by the SMART car product line versus the A100/B100 versus the traditional lines
First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*
