An aging friend gave me a BeoSystem 3000 consisting of a BeoMaster
3000-2, Beogram 3000 and BeoVox 3800 speakers, that he replaced many years ago and has
been storing since. Great!
Two questions, with some observations:
The belt had fallen off the
Beogram so I moved it back into position and adjusted the speed, no
problems, but when rotating the deck makes a periodic rumbling sound
every ~.8 seconds, even when not connected to an amp.
Q1. It must be mechanical, can anyone suggest a solution?
It really makes listening to music unpleasant on this otherwise beautiful system.
The BeoMaster 3000-2 Tuner/ Amplifier has a slightly different problem- when playing anything through the 'tape' input, only the Right channel seems to be connected, though some sound spills over into the Left speaker. When Right Mono is chosen sound comes from both speakers, so looking at the circuit diagram I naively assume the problem is the switch or upstream. I've tested all the components upstream and they seem ok within 10-20% of stated values, but I guess from other threads that it may be the switch itself that is the problem.
I've seen in other threads that it may be worth replacing the capacitors,
Q2. is this every single one in the device or a particular set? Should I just buy equivalent ones from an electronics shop, or do they need to be special? Roughly how much should it cost? As an enthusiastic but poor student, the smaller the outlay the better.
While at it I will clean the sliders as they make scratchy noises when slide, and report back any results I get for posterity.
thanks in advance to what seems a vibrant and helpful forum to get these beautiful things back together,
