    Beogram 1000

    At the moment there is a Beogram 1000 on US Bay, 50 USD +, 2 hours to go, My beloved "Fabric selector and onwall speaker locater" has forbidden me to buy more before I get reed of something, this week I had to see 1 Beocenter 7700 go for 31.00, a BM901 for 20.00 and a Variac for 41.00, I'm crying. The BG 1000 was my first ever B&O puchase back in 1969, long gone.

    Beosound 3000, BL 4000, BL 8000, BG 2404,BG 5000, BG CD50, Beocord 5000, BM 901, BM 2400, BM 4000, BV S45, BV 3702. There is nothing we cannot do, but a lot of things we don't want to do!!

    It was my first B&O purchase as well - at least I think it was a BG1000 rather than a 1001.  Bought in early 1971 with an SP14.  And the first record I played on it, I still have - Paul Desmond's "From the hot afternoon".  (He was the alto player on, and composer of, "Take Five" by the Dave Burbeck Quartet)

    I hope you bought it, Soren!

    I have also watched a lot of stuff slide by Soren. Mostly because I just dont have anywhere else to put the stuff,  but mostly because the two or three pieces left I do want I am most likely going to have to buy on Eurobay or sweet talk a Beoworld member out of theirs.

    Either way I am looking at coughing up some crazy postage fees from now on.

    I buy in the US, ship to Mcallen TX, and then either get my niece to ship it down here from Monterrey (cost double freight) or  I go up there by car to pick up, a trip with car to McAllen from Mex city and back is 2400 KM , thats gasoline 200 USD, highway payments some 350 USD, hotels at least 3 nights some 300 USD or more if we go for more upscale, then my wife wants to go shopping, well, thats a totally unknown.

    Upon comes he cost of food and things you normaly buy on a 2 day 12-14 hour a day trip, and a one or two day stayover.

    When I get the the BM 4000 and the BL 3000 flat panel (still in McAllen)working perfectly I hope my wife gets the BeoVirus.

    If you start buying in Europe, be shure you get very good packing, I get spareparts from Europe and for the delicate parts I pay for wood crates and even so there is always something that can go wrong. The "this side up", "glass", "Use no hooks" and labels like that dont help.

    I think its a sport for transport people to see how far they can go before the boxes brake.Super Angry

    That sounds all too familiar Laughing And you had to pass on something as essential as a variac too Sad

    In time I have to get a variac, but what is more important, a nice BG or a piece of tool. Its like many years ago when I was tuning up my Morris mini, put in a Cooper motor, testing I found out that I needed an oilcooler and a brake amplifier, as there was no space for both, I chose the oil cooler.

    As I'm still learning, I find everyday new tools I need, but with time I will get there, and some day I will find out how to use themLaughing

    After my weekend trip to JaffBay, the Fabric Selector has said, "You're done!"  And I said, "You know it!"

    But I've still got a second pair of M70s to restore, plus there's always the trip down to the friendly local used record store...

    Current primary listening:  SMMC20EN -> BG4002 -> BM4000 -> Beovox M70
