Hello,
I have a question regarding the quality of the digital->analog conversion of the Beovision 3 (+ surround module).
Currently my Beovision 3 is connected to a pair of Beolab 1 speakers and to a B&O DVD-1. The sound quality of the DVD-1 playing a CD (through scart) is good.
A few days ago I bought a Logitech Squeezebox Duet which I connected to the S/PDIF input of the Beovision 3's surround module. It doesn't play PCM yet, only DTS/DD, but our B&O dealer says updating the surround module's software from 2.3 -> 2.4 will allow the Beovision 3 to play PCM. He also claims that the sound quality of the Squeezebox connected to Beovision 3's surround module will be about the same as the DVD-1. I'm not sure if it will. What do you think? How does the PCM digital->analog conversion of the Beovision 3 (assuming new software will make this possible) compare to that of the DVD-1?
If this is not true, will adding a DAC like the Cambridge Audio DacMagic between the Beovision 3 and the Squeezebox give similar sound quality as the DVD-1?
