    Beosound 2300 stopped playing CDs

    Hey guys

My Beosound 2300 seems to have developed a problem. The radio and AUX work fine but the CD player has stopped playing CDs.

Does anyone know what could be casuing this and how hard it is to fix?

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks

    J

You could try cleaning the laser lens with a cotton bud which may solve the problem.

If that doesn't improve matters then it will probably need a replacement CD mechanism.

Do you have any idea how much a new mech would be? Ball park is okay.

At a guess, £100 or so plus an hour to fit.

I dont think, that replacement drives are still available... and 90% of the drives have no problem. It's the controller, bad caps or the power supply.

You will need somebody to repair the controller in your country.

I know it is hard to guess the cause and price but how much is a normal or average repair in a normal case? I have contacted my dealer but they are closed and I just want to know what I am dealing with.

Is the CD Pro II kit no longer available?? This is/was supplied with a new controller board and was a very simple fix that a lego builder could fit!

Are you an experienced electronics technician??

If yes, there is a fighting chance that you could fix it your self with some help from this forum. Cost would possibly be as little as a couple of pounds.

If no then you will have a problem finding a B&O technician who will know what to do, if the updated CD mech kit is no longer available. B&O service will in all probability say that it is obsolete!

As Die_Bogener says, you will need to find an experienced repair technician in your country. Assuming that you are in the UK, you will have difficulty.

If B&O write it off and you are not an experienced electronics guy then my advice is to sell it on ebay as spares or repair.

I am sorry, but this is the real world in this day and age.

    Regards Graham
