    remote cable

could someone please tell me what the cable is called that plugs in to my beovision 5 with a little eye thing at the other end taped to my sky box, so that I can use the beo4 to control sky box.

Its just when the sky man pulled it of the old box he broke a wire . I have tried to solder it but have given up.

also do you have to go to b & o to get one or can you get a universal one from maplin

    cheers colin

    Re: remote cable

I think it's simply called an IR remote sensor cable - as you called it in your post. I have one somewhere doing nothing.

    Chris.

The use of metaphors should be avoided like the plague. They're like a red rag to a bull to me.

Did you resolder the broken wire itself, or did you use a new connector/jacket?

Mind the polarity from the ir-eye. You can't just resolder the wire without checking the polarity.

If you use a new connector, then the chassis is ground (-) and the little top is the positive lead (+). -> STB/DTV

If you re using a 3,5mm stereo jacket, then the middle ring is the positive lead for STB/VAUX.

So if your soldering doesnt work, try to resolder the wire and switch both leads. It will not damage your BV5 by switching the leads.

It works or it works not, its that simple.

You can buy a standard ir cable to the job. I got one from ebay for appr. 8$ incl. shipping.
