    Beogram 6500 - camwheel positions?

Through some mystery, the drive belt of my servo motor on the BG6500 decided to jump off.

I've opened the deck up, put the belt where it should be, took the opportunity to remove hardened grease and put on fresh.

Now I'd like to know how to position the camwheels correctly without forcing anything. The drive and servo motors are engaging, but when I replace the platter, I'm suspecting that there's something I'm not doing right, as the pick-up arm mount doesn't move into position.

Here's what it looks like - different from the manual on-site. (BTW - I can't believe the absence of any significant dust inside the unit, after so many years!)

While I have it open, just let me know if there's anything else I should do (grease, oil in the bearing?)

    Cheers!

Re: Beogram 6500 - camwheel positions?

I am surprised knowone has helped you here SOundproof I have personally never got my hands on newer turntables so cannot really comment with any authority. However I would suggest the upper cam does not appear to be in a resting position. Whether things have jumped / slipped I don't know I am sure the manual could help?

One last thing - I believe the solonoids can cause problems with these units but again I cannot help any further. Hope you get it sorted soon :)

Menahem is the solenoid expert - I've never had that problem so I can't comment on that... If it moves freely, I don't suppose that's the culprit.

Also, the solenoid seems to be in the correct rest position, but as Olly says, the upper camwheel is not. The white slider thingy inside of it should line up with the center bearing and the center of the wire drive pulley.

I suggest you go through the alignments in proper order, starting from page 6-1 in the service manual. Something must've jumped in there.

Thanks for the input to everyone. I wanted to make certain I wasn't breaking anything. The unit is now playing records again as it should, with all parts doing their best.

That RIAA upgrade is tempting. There's a nice project for a wet November night, once I've gotten hold of the parts.

    Cheers!
