    Good design doesn't age...

    Hello!

    A refreshing experience...

A (knowledgeable) friend of my 16-year-old sons came home and saw my B&O setup on top of which there's a Beogram 8000.

I also have an unused, brand new, Technics SL-1200 with Rega arm.

He actually thought in earnest that the Beogram was a completely new design! And sound-wise, it is admittedly so superior to his iPod thingy!

What do you say to that my friends?

What a nice tribute to those B&O engineers that a teenager should think their 30 years old designs are brand new!

I often wonder what would manufacturing a product like this cost today... not in China mind you...

That is the beauty with a good design...

A good design is practically, aesthetically and timeless.

I can only agree. I remember another Beoworld-member telling that he had a Beomaster 1900 at the office -and people thought it was a brand new model. And those pictures in the "Flash Your B&O" thread showing a Beovision 10 with a pair of 20-year old Beolab 5000 speakers.

    It is truly timeless design.

I certainly love the timeless B&O design, my more than 30-year-old Beosystem(s) looks like something that could be made today. The iconic vintage B&O sound also has a trait that makes it nice to listen to, even for prolonged periods of time with high volume levels. Guess that there is something lovely to the special treble response?

Anyway, every B&O receiver has its own iconic design.

I've never considered the BM 1600 to be a chick magnet -but then again; I've never had a BM 1600 Wink

That is yet another wonderful thing about B&O -most women like it when they see it. They are certainly more willing to accept it in the home than most of the ugly Asian boxes. My girlfriend really like my Beosystem 4500 Yes - thumbs up I have some friends who had to get rid of their japanese hi-fi gear when they got married Laughing

Hehe, my girlfriend likes my beosystem 6000 very much (Yes - thumbs up), but the biggest problem with it is still the four big Beovox S-75(which isn't really big in size)... Wife acceptance factor is still way low for a set of those Indifferent

Generelly B&O is a "chick magnet"... It is a good mixture from stylish, timeless design and from 007 gimmick effects. ;-)

Back to the topic... Here a interesting interview with Jacob Jensen: http://www.stylepark.com/en/news/die-befreiung-der-kiste-jacob-jensen-und-das-design-von-bang-und-olufsen/279932
