It's the maximum rating and therefore an accolade!

Don't take it personally Leslie - it was meant as a joke. Unfortunately humour doesn't always cross the language barriers smoothly on a world wide site such as Beoworld.
To be honest the star ratings don't mean much to most people & I have never really liked nor understood why we have them but they seem to have come as part of a package when the server was last updated. I just treat them as being pointless & ignore them.
If it makes you feel better I have just rated your post as 5 stars to redress the balance
Chris.

Okay thanks Chris, still, why did he start with the ?
Can't see the humor of that?
Anyway, you're right about the language barriers. Sometimes it's tough to mingle in discussions for people who doesn't speak the English language that well or use the right phrases and words.

The was simply referring to him being mischievous & no real harm was intended or implied.

don't think of it as the devil but rather an imp
WIKIPEDIA:
An imp is a mythological being similar to a fairy or demon, frequently described in folklore and superstition. The word may perhaps derive from the term ympe, used to denote a young grafted tree.
Imps are considered "fallen fairies" and are often described as mischievous more than seriously threatening, and as lesser beings rather than more important supernatural beings. The attendants of the devil are sometimes described as imps. They are usually described as lively and having small stature.

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

Spiros:It was funny.
For me it wasn't. Chris and "Elephant" has explained that "@R" was making a joke. That's okay! Let's call it misinterpretation from me and my apologies
I started this topic just to ask what this 5 stars rating means, so if you don't mind Spiros, I would like to continue my topic with the question to Chris or others how star ratings are awarded. How do you do that?
Thanks, Leslie

You asked the question above. To demonstrate how the ratings work I gave you one star. This resulted in a star rating of 2.5.

Smilies are commonly used on the internet as are on this site. The devil is appropriate for someone being impish (someone giving a one star rating would be).

@R,
Was waiting for your response.
Again, misinterpretation fom me, as I thought you "messed up" with your BL7000 to my other 5* thread.
Still leaves my question, how do you rate a post?
Thanks, Leslie

Is it more clear now?
If I remember correct, I did mention it from the beginning.

Is user 'Westerlander' still on site? I seem to recall that he went round rating all threads with one star!

Glad you posted that John. Reading this post earlier today made me think about. Could not remeber who it was at the time.
