    Masterlink Gateway

    Hi All,

Does anyone have any information on the masterlink gateway such as how to interface with it or maybe the user/programming guide?

    Thanks

    Warren

    Re: Masterlink Gateway

I would like to have control of some lights in our house as well as the thermostat via iTouch/iPhone/iPad. I want to be able to check the temperature in our house while we are traveling. Something a little more sophisticated than my current method of placing a thermometer in front of the iMac and viewing it on an iPhone/iTouch through the iMac web cam.  I have been looking at various systems and am currently considering using Insteon devices for their low cost and simple "do it yourself" installation and set up. However, I would also like the lights to be controllable by the Beo 5 and Beo 4.

    Razlaw,

Might I recommend you hold off for a few months? For what you're looking for, Lutron's Homeworks QS will probably be your best option. Finally they're going to include T-stat control which means you can do it through their pre-packaged interface.

Prior to this, if you wanted t-stat control the best option (imho) was to combine a Lutron system & Crestron components. This was pricey and introduced not only a bit of redundancy with the Crestron controls, but tremendous cost and the need to program another system.

I don't know if you've seen the Homeworks iPhone app, but it's pretty good and will ultimately adapt to the new features of the next generation.

If you need help designing, feel free to PM me and we can get in contact.
