    BeoVision 8 - 32" Discontinued...

It looks like the BeoVision 8-32" has been frogmarched to the gallows.  B&O annouced today that this version has been terminated with immediate effect..

Could be simply because of lack of production resources. The webcast of the half year financial report is still on, and they have been talking about having to ramp up the production for the new TVs (BV10 and BV7-55). If this has been a slow seller anyway, it may have been an easy decision to just drop it...

Glad I got one before the axe! A very nice basic TV and perfect size for the bedroom. Smile Don't understand why though. Since the BV 6 and BV 7-32 aren't sold in the United States, would that mean the smallest screen size here would be 40"? That's too big for many people.

I figured this would happen, for the US adds for the BV8 32 they said "as long as supplies last"

Well I am happy I got mine, back to just large TVs for the US.

I have 2 x 8-32 in White, one in the Kitchen and one in the bedroom. I am very happy with both of them. I think it is sad that they are discontinued. In our house, 8-40 is too big and 6-26 too small for our rooms, 32” is for many rooms a perfect match.

    There is something about B&O.....

I'm a bit suprised they axed the 32" version... I thought that the 28" would be the first to go...

    This leaves a gap... from 26" BV6 to 40" BV10

The race for quality has no finish line- so technically, it's more like a death march.

    Yes it is sad,

I know smaller TVs don't sell so well for them. I am just not getting why that is, why does everybody want a big TV?

To me TV doesn't play that much of a role and I don't want it to take over my living room. Is not that I don't like big screens but I am guessing I am more of a projector person for that since you can hide it.

Interesting you should say that JK - my Boston dealer (Newbury St., same as yours I guess) told me in late 2008 that the BV 8-32 was selling very well. So well, in fact, that they would consider a trade-in if I wanted to upgrade. Could be that that was due to it being a new model at the time...

If I ask my dealer what sells, the answer is "everything"! Bad marketing and self promotion if you say it doesn't sell... Laughing

Probably first of many casualty  in  b&o current products,  in this current climate nearly £3k too expensive 32 lcd tv for entry level so called imho

Well He just sold one to me at that time so Smile .... I guess new model and backpiled demand for something sub 10k.

At Ed, the BV8 runs here for 2900$ plus tax as a special (since a year or so). It is by B&O standards a super bargain I guess. I am happy with it even at the 4000$ level where I bought it.

    definitely "so called" !!!

prior to my BV8-32 I was fixated on wanting things like surround sound.

once I got my hands on the BV8 and pushed it to its limits I was astounded by its capabilities.

I have been demonstrating to my sons how I have link-room-ed (sorry for the mangled English) by BV8 with two 21" CRTs they left behind (a DSE and an NEC) when they moved out, and once they twigged to what was happening their jaws dropped.

Similarly when I stayed at Judith's LUX-POD and playe with her and Ashley's BV6 I was astounded.

I think B&O does an atrocious job at explaining how powerful their video platform is -- and neither of those TVs even had the BS3 inside them !!!

Even the Beoliving environments in stores do nothing to explain the flexibility of the B&O world.

I could be cynical and say that it maybe in a dealer's best interests to down play this, but I actually suspect that they are perhaps lack knowledge, or certainly are inexperienced at this level.

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

what i meant in 8-32 entry level  was price wise not technical gadgetry to pay £3k for 32 inch tv in this day and age is bizarre, obviously entry level aimed at people never owned or could not afford the higher spec tv sets(globally),however b&o found out  this policy was a farce never worked hence they are discontinued it .many b&o customers voted with their cash elsewhere,i just bought 42 inch pansonic viera got free sat, free view excellent picture(sd&hd) in fact i will say even better than the bv7-40 iv i have seen it in action few times but only on sd!!! for fraction of the price and i can change it more than three times/folds over and still quids in.Big Smile

Ah, I'm in possession of an original, first generation BV8-26, which is in perfect proportion to its very elegant floor mount. Looks like a work of art.

Will become rare, that! Big Smile (I was going to buy a 32", but thought the 26" version looked so perfect on the floor mount, so I switched to the smaller screen. Still looks great, and is perfect in my home office.)

It is such a silly decision. 32 is rather small by today,'s standards for a main room TV, but for a bedroom, the bv8-32 was ideal!

    Agreed !

But if they produce a BV10 < 40" then we may have a better bedroom solution Smile

.... but at at the price of the BV8-32 Sad
