    Problem with Beomaster 1400M

    Hello!

I live in Sweden and I am new to this forum. I'm hoping for help to repair a Beomaster 1400M. The problem is the left channel. There is sound but not nearly as good as in the right channel. I have opened it but can't find what's causing the trouble. I was hoping for a blown fuse or something like that, but they look good..

Could it be caused by old capacitors? Is there anyone who recognizes this problem?

    Regards Lotta

    Re: Problem with Beomaster 1400M

Could be as simple as a dirty track of one of the potentiometers.
I suppose you already tried plaaying around with the volume/balance/treble/bass sliders ?

The amplifiers in the Beomaster 1400M are quite robust and hardly ever fails.
Did you check if the problem is the speakers ?
Try swapping the left and right speakers and see if the problem is
    still with the same speaker.

    Re: Problem with Beomaster 1400M

    Hi,

About a year ago, I had very sloppy sound from my BM1600M (basically the same as the 1400M).

I replaced all the Electrolytic caps, with Vishay BCE (the descendant of the original Philips) units - they even look almost identical with the blue colour, and the loudspeaker volume slider caps with Panasonic ECG Metallized Propylene caps (labeled WF185J - 250V).

To replace these, you need to remove the IF box - I haven't figured out how to upload my pictures to the forum, but if you send me your email address, I'll get them to you!.

    The sound (2x15W) is fabulous.

You can get all these caps from Digikey in the USA.

    Regards

    M Yachad

Do you have the service manual? I do have this one if needed and will scan it it if asked and put it on site! You need to be a silver or Gold member to access manuals.
