    Avant Component signal issue

I just hooked up my Apple TV to my recently acquired Avant and discovered that the Component input seems to be behaving strangely.  In certain types of scenes there are flashing darker areas or bands that appear within the image.  They are not random but appear to react to what is in the image.  I noticed it first with my AppleTV but assumed it was the analog amps in the Apple TV ( I had noticed a much smaller amount of flickering on my BS1 with the same AppleTV with certain Slideshows.)  However, I've tested the Avant with a DVD player and it exhibited the same behavior.  I also tested it with another TV and it did not produce the effect.

This particular Avant has had very little use (under 88 days) and was from a very reputable source who I don't believe had actually ever used Component.  I'm thinking that the analog circuitry is too sensitive to hotter levels in the signal.   I did try two sets of cables but neither, however, were audiophile quality.   Has anyone else encountered this problem before?  Are there any Component line filters that can control hot levels if this turns out to be the issue? No picture adjustments in the service menu (yes I was careful) had any effect on the behavior.

    Thanks.

    Re: Avant Component signal issue

I've encountered the exact same problem with my Avant. Tech support advised that this is pretty common and is due to the component connections that B&O used -- not actually a malfunction or breakdown in the Avant. Tech support advised that a part can be ordered and installed by a B&O repair person to correct the issue. I'm guessing that the time and labor would make this rather expensive -- as we know that even the smallest repairs by B&O can be costly.

    Re: Avant Component signal issue

Michael - I just found your old post doing a search on the forum. I've experienced the same thing on my Avant, as well as my Beosystem 1. I called B&O tech support, and the nearest authorized repair shop, and both didn't understand what I was talking about. Have you found out anything new about resolving it? I've learned to live with it, but I still don't like it.
