How do I balance my system?

    BV7-40 - Beolab7-4

    Front: Beolab8000, Beolab2

    Rear: Beolab6000

While watching anything on the TV when in a silent room, the balance between the vocals and the sound effects\music is good, delivering clear vocals with powerful effects.

However when watching movies with friends, there is obviously some sort of conversation going on in the room, which toatally blocks out the vocals from the system. Turning the volume up leads to not being able to hear eachother while the speakers fill the room with effects from the scenes.

I've tried adjusting the balance in the menu, but have had no luck in solving this problem.

    Any thoughts?

Not aware of a system where you can raise the vocal volume whilst leaving music or background noise at a lower level, other than raising the treble/ lowering the base. Maybe someone else knows different!

On reflection, more likely to be a room acoustics problem?? Try experimenting with different furniture/ wall/floor coverings.

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure. [W C Fields]

Thought room acoustics may be playing a part. The walls are bare plaster with very little furniting.

Simply the system, sofas, and wooden floor.

Any thoughts on discreet ways of improving this?

    Thanks!
