Competition Time - Laughable Reviews...
Sorry folks, but it's a bug-bear of mine when people who know absolutely nothing about B&O start waxing lyrical about the brand and products, then come up with the old 'uber stylish ultra expensive' chestnuts.
There have actually been some reviews where i've physically thrown down a magazine forcefully in a mixture of despair and disgust after reading utter inaccurate drivel where the 'reviewer' clearly hasn't been within 100 metres of a B&O product and has obviously been asked by his editor to 'knock up an article' about a new or existing product.
I've seen and met some of these people on a few of the B&O launches i was kind enough to be invited to. They were the ones that ate the food, drunk the free wine, then fell asleep during the presentations..
So - for a BeoWorld T-Shirt, CD's, BeoWorld Mousemat & Coaster Set and whatever else I can lay my hands on in the 'BeoWorld Goodie-Room' - I want you to find some utter garbage that's been written about B&O by total buffoons. The best one (or is it the worst one) wins...
Off you go..

Great finds Jeff. I had never seen that video before. Definitely burst out laughing!
That first one sounds like a nakamichi advert.

Jeff,
That "soupcraze" guy used to have a review of the BS9000 where he compared it (negatively) to 6 portable CD players attached to a piece of wood. Something like the 6 portable CD players would sound just as good and cost thousands less. Not sure what happened to it - I looked for it a few years back and it was gone.

Well, here is his "review" of the BS9000, perhaps not the same one you saw... I love his comment about it not having a radio.
I find it amazing that people can write "anything" when they clearly have seen "nothing."

That's the beauty of the internet Jeff - there's no intermediary to do the filtering!
I thought his review was mildly amusing actually, and I don't think he tried too hard to cover up the fact that he was talking bullocks and had probably only ever looked at a picture of a BS9000. He obviously has a passion for Sony and Yamaha though...

I am getting very tired of that man's words. So much unnecessary talk...
But I suppose thats the point right now
His specificity of competing products probably only comes from his ownership of those very products.

As for Bose at least they are innovative enought to compensate the small
size with better material and architecture in the speaker unit
Now that made my jaw drop!

Re: Competition Time - Laughable Reviews...
Just found this from a review of the Beocom 2 by GQ magazine........
Even the most masochistic consumer will resent the two-column number
pad,a bewildering design choice that complicates what should be a
simple act: dialing.
Trying to find a copy of the full article.

Re: Competition Time - Laughable Reviews...
So here is my finding! As he concludes:
"Finally, as an audiophile worried about non audiophiles and about what they can do, I must alert them about buying B&O products: if you want the best audio reproduction possible, please try other products"

Not so much a review, but a comment posted on a review of a Serene:
Comment from: pat the ex
B&O designs arent so hot in truth, they look very sleek at firt glance but it becomes apparent that its often design for designs sake, and that type of minimalism is a bit to 80's. my friend has a system in his house and the remote control is a mess ugly and dumb, the speakers look like bread bins and the smoked glass door on the cd changer is a gimick and prone to dropping off.
nah they are over rated

Re: Competition Time - Laughable Reviews...
Clearly this reviewer spent a lot of time with the product:
First, I have this to say about it: if this device works as well as its website, I hope it’s banished to the innermost receses of the earth. Please, web designers: no more autoplaying music and pointless intro videos that show nothing. And especially no music that continues to start up 10 seconds after you stop it, again and again and again. Now, on to the product.
It’s an mp3 jukebox of a form factor that has never been tried: supremely awkward. Apparently composed of a rectangular prism intersecting with an oblique column, this gadget was not created with subtlety in mind. I believe the guts are found in the base, and the control interface uses only that silver disc and the buttons thereupon. Honestly, though, why would you get this? It’s ugly as sin and if you’re going to cough up for a nice central mp3 controller, why not go with a touchscreen, either wireless or embedded? No, this appears to be strictly for attention-seekers and interior designers making a “music room” or something. Feh! [via Acquire]

Re: Competition Time - Laughable Reviews...
I was resisting from posting other threads because they aren't actual reviews, but I'll go ahead and do it after a day's worth of searching for the bad, or do I mean, the good stuff?
Anyway, I found this last year sometime. This is kind of interesting as these people are conversing over a review. Then we come along to talk about them!
Praiseworthy

Re: Competition Time - Laughable Reviews...
Someone asked which was best, B&O or Bose? The alternative answers are a hoot. Here's one:
"Stay away from both. You can get better quality
for your money if you buy separate components and speakers from brands
like marantz, boston acoustic, psb, pioneer elite, NHT, NAD.
The simple fact of the matter is that bose has withdrawn any of their
equipment from being tested by audiophile magazines and their set ups in
stores like Best Buy are kept away from other sound equipment so you
can't directly compare it to other products. B&O is basically Bose
but with a Scandinavian name."

This may be a geographical thing but I wonder where the Bose association comes from. To me, all "Bose" has ever meant was that black telephone booth strapped to the ceiling at a club that makes my ears bleed.
(and the car audio system in some '90s Cadillacs - never heard one, though)

I simply like this for the BS factor - not quite a magazine review but likely to get out to more non-hifi people!
