BEOSYSTEM 5000 with CD 50 - can a CD 5500 be used in this system instead of CD 50?

    Hi!

We are very fond of our BEOSYSTEM 5000.

Unfortunately our CD player, which in this system is a CD 50, does not work any longer!

Can we use a newer model e.g. CD 5500 instead in the system?

Or what would you recommend us to do?

    Best regards

    Tove

Yes the CD5500 will work perfectly with the 5000 system so will the later CD6500 & CD7000 as they are basically the same machine but not as good a cosmetic match.

What is the problem with your CD50? These are almost always repairable.

    Chris.

The use of metaphors should be avoided like the plague. They're like a red rag to a bull to me.

The advantage of the 5500 is that the tray is on the right, which when stacked atop of the cassette player, makes the cassette tray more useful. The CD5500 was sold with later Beosystem 5000's I believe.
