    Foam 'Gaskets' on a CX100

I  am currently restoring a pair of CX100's that I bought for a song from ebay that have extensive foam rot.

When I removed the drivers the  foam that sits between the speaker drivers and the body of the speakers was missing. I am not sure what you call them but if they were on a car you would call them gaskets, hence the title of the post!

Does anyone know if these are still available? Alternatively does anyone have any suggestions for what I could use to make my own?

    Many thanks

    Simon

try a local foam merchant - should be listed in yellow pages - should have soething near enough then use scissors for the outer shape and something round of the approx diam reqd and a scalpel to trace/cut the central round bit - sound difficult when written down but dead easy in 12" to the foot real life!

i agree, just cut some similar material to the approximate shape. I suppose their only purpose is to damp high frequency reflections from the fret cage / enclosure edges, and that is by no means critical.

Probably work just fine. I would have walked over to the auto-parts store myself.

You had asked to see how I got along with my recent refoam job and so here are the results.

I use the rubber surrounds from Good-Hifi instead of the foam. I liked the result I also replaced the crossover caps with newer poly caps.
