Old computer components and junk (I can take them off your hands)

    Hi  all:

In an effort to alleviate boredom I am completing my media server before moving on to other projets. I have exhausted my box of PC junk and was therefore wondering if anyone within the forum has any old graphcs cards/tv tuner cards lying around the house that they no-longer want and are liable to throw them away?

If so please reply to ths thread or PM me and we can arrange delivery to me (at my expense). I am happy to make a donation to the site or a charity if necessary.

I am also after an old and preferably broken type writer with the round keys (you know, the big old black things from the 19th and early 20th century. Beware this is going to get taken apart and destroyed.

    Thanks

    Graham

What do you plan to do with a dismantled typewriter?

    Hi:

I am using the round keys to modify an old computer keyboard. The picture shows what it would ideally look like. However, mine will probably be a poor imitation:

My housemate reads SciFi magazines and I noticed there is a small following/group of people that like the SciFi subgenre of Steampunk. For those not aware of it, it is an alternate nineteenth century reality in which fictional devices far in advance of their time were manufactured and powered by steam/steam generators and the like. Steam Boy is an anime film which bases its plot in this time period and is worth a look.

One of the hallmarks of Steampunk is the industrial looking nature of the fictional inventions and the heavy reliance on thick guage metal, rivets, airships etc. I am not particularly interested in the genre in general terms but I would quite like to modify a computer keyboard to look like the one above. There is an active modding team within the steampunk community which do this, just google steampunk computer mods.

    Thanks
