    Experiences with Slingbox

    Hi all:

    Has anyone on here used a Slingbox? If so what are your experiences of them? My friend gave me his as he couldn't get it to work, yet I think some of the cables were missing. I am going to buy the necessary scart adaptors this week and connect it to my Virgin box. I reckon I can get it going but is it a stable system? The box touts that you can connect to your TV source at home whilst on holiday - internet connection permitting but somehow this all sounds too good to be true (not the watching it on holiday - I can think of far better things to do with my time when on holiday) but the prospect of rocking up at any location with a net connection and being able to watch TV is compelling.

    Thanks

    Graham

    Hi Graham.

    I would be very interested in how a slingbox setup could look like - although my setup would be slightly different than normal. I would like to have a slingbox permanently setup at my parents place in Denmark and have a slingplayer at my home in Norway. Channel selection and content up here is not the best.

    I have a beosystem 3 and would like to know how to setup a slingcatcher (possible slingplayer) to my system.

    Thanks

    Christian

    Re: Experiences with Slingbox

    Graham;

    I've used one in Brasil ( 220-240v region ) for the past two years with no problems.

    The signal is not true HD,  but close enough to be enjoyable and keep up on local news. The setup is very easy.

    We run the Slingbox audio through our Beosound 1 or Beolab 4 speakers: No problems there either.

    I used one for 6 months. Very nice product that works well.  It you want to watch Digital Free to air, get one with the digital tuner. I asked them if they could write something to control B&O, never heard back...
