    Beosound 9000 What Version

    Hello All

I have always been interested in a beosound 9000 and due to link rooms and beomedia always needed a MK3 so i could distrubute sound around the house.

i have since sold the beomedia and bought apple tv as its better for me.

do i need to bother with a MK3 now as i have no need for N.Music around the house, what functions woudl i loose if i went for a MK2 or MK1???

    Thanks

Beyond functionality differences, the MK3 had an improved CD carriage, as well as improvements to the way the glass panel attached.

Sean, both the MK1 and MK2 can handle N.Music upgrades.  You would be hard pushed to detect any differences at all save for the positioning of the on/off power button.

As far as I know the MK3 also tells you if the sensors require cleaning. MK1 and MK2's don't.

    hi,

Is there any soundquality-differences between the three versions?

Does the new CD-mechanism in MK3 mean better soundquality, or???

I have a MK1 and use the SPDF-cable to my new Beolab 5. I feel that the soundquality is rather good but not VERY good. I have also a blurayplayer (Panasonic DMP-BD80) which I have tried with SPDF-cable to my Lab5. The sound is a little bit more clear and crystal with the blurayplayer than with my BS9000 MK1.

Once, Matt from Lifestyle gave me this explanation :

    BeoSound differences:

MK1 –  Glass is prone to falling off when mounted vertically, unless already rectified by Bang & Olufsen!

MK2 –  uprated glass, can be upgraded for use with N.MUSIC (BeoPort/BeoMedia) if required.

MK3 –  uprated CD mechanism, ready for N.MUSIC use.

Does anybody know if the new CD-mechanism in MK3 will give a better soundquality than the one in MK1 and MK2? Or what is the difference between the "new" CD-mechanism in MK3 and the one in MK1/MK2?

I can't tell the difference between any of the versions although others will swear that they can. What this tells me is that if you want to hear a difference then you probably will!

The Mk3 CD mechanism is supposed to be more reliable. I have no evidence to support this.

All versions can be upgraded to N-Music capability by changing a software chip.
