Looking for help: second hand BV7-40 w/o DVD or BV8-40

    Hi All,

as a real B&O fan I am looking to buy a B&O TV set for my girl friends home. Today there is no multi room audio/video planed and I doubt this will be a hot topic in the feature. However, as a smart shopper I still have in mind that this set may make it's way into my house some time....Cool

My dealer has offerd me to intersting ex demo sets, one BV7-40 without DVD (the 50hz one with the BS3 build in)  plus a used Beolab 7.1 from a customer for 5000 Euro or a quite new BV 8-40 close to MSRP.

So the difference in price is not that huge anymore. Not sure what to do...

Old panel vs- new one (50Hz / 100Hz), is that a big deal?

Unfortunately the Beolab is a 7.1 and not a 7.2, so does not look that nice....

    Thanks for the comments!

I think I would probably go for the BV8. The picture is better though I would miss the contrast screen. The lack of DVD in the 7-40 removes the bit of the BV7 I really like!

The BV8 would make a superb link set when she moves in! Laughing

Surely it must be the 100hz screen? I see no reason to think otherwise. I have just got back from London for the weekend and I was watching Star Trek Voyager on my Mum's Avant RF 32 DVD TV. This is 100hz and I have to say that I didn't notice any difference at all between that and the 50hz on my BV7-40 Mark III. Having said that, it does depend on the programmes being shown I am sure because I watched the Golf Masters on it and that was superb. TV technologies confuse the hell out of me these days.

It's more noticeable on a LCD as you get ghosting and streaking when the camera attempts to pan quickly, particularly with sport. It does make a difference watching football on the MKIV 100Hz screen. Camera panning issues are far less noticeable on a decent CRT.
