Few weeks ago, I was started thread about Beomaster 901 and 1500 .... to discuss little bit and to learn more about them, cos I was thinking maybe to get one .... but just maybe ... thread

And one of ours fellow member Llewelyn offered me BM901 for free !!!

I couldn't believe it !!! After a few mails and nice conversation with him last week he sent me BM901 !

And you guess ..... BM901 arrived today in absolutely mint condition ! Like NEW !!!

I would like to THANK YOU Llewelyn for your kindnes and generosity !!!! I'm really happy today !

And also thank you LEE for creating such a beautiful place, Beoworld is far more beyond anything I ever saw on internet, great community with great people !

This system will be only for playing records and it will stay in a same room with my BC1, BL8000 and BS2300 

I think this would be interesting synthesis between vintage and new B&O

well, i stumble on them from time to time, but you likely would have better luck in the UK.

BTW, if you are set on the cx50's -go for them! or perhaps 100's -either will be smaller footprint than the older bv's i was suggesting...

Congratulations on your new Beomaster!

My first B&O amp was a Beocenter 1400 which is BM901 + a Beocord on the right side. Lovely thing! Later on I bought a BM3000-2 and I got a 901 for free as extra! It was horribly dirty and lamps were burnt but I replaced them and cleaned the whole thing; now I use it daily! I have two Tandberg 2-way speakers (I am getting a pair of CX50s in few weeks so I am interested to hear how it sounds) with it but I usually use it with wireless Sennheiser headphones.

The 3000-2 have had much less use...

BM3000-2 is more powerful and more technicaly complex, how come that you prefer BM901 more than BM3000-2 ?

Makes me (again) really wish I never sold my white BM3000-2. Stunning it was with it's bright white casing & silver aluminium front & proper switches and would look great in my all white (walls and hard furniture) main room. I do have a spare BM3000-2 stored away that was my fathers & I saved it from the bin after I got him a BC8500 but I don't like the real wood. I know that's wrong but I have a very big open plan room downstairs all with oak flooring - it really is a lot of wood and to add vintage B&O with different wood variations won't look good to me. I haven't seen any white BM3000-2's since and don't have the heart to butcher the perfectly mint wood one to make it white so I'll have to get a cover to swap over made somewhere. Hmm, maybe a new thread for that.

I really do believe modern & vintage can compliment each other - just as furnishings can.

Not true !!! You need to combine elements with different color and correlation between element will give you nice structure .... and than color will become more "working together" even if they are not the same !

The size difference isn't actually that great

BTW, I arranged these according to my idea of improving sound quality... the 2200's are extremely directional because of the cone tweeters though - they need to be aimed at your head to sound right. And the CX50's are still recovering after my refoam, they are supposed to get better with time. The CX100's sounded great almost right away, though...

That 901 is nice. It is probably one of the last vintage Beomasters I might still buy... Although the 800 is what I really want!
