    Philips Pronto and B&o

    Hello all

i have a beo4 and a bv7 and im thinking of hooking up a projector and a screen.

i do not want to purchase any of the beoliving items so its going to be different equiptment

i have been looking at a philips pronto maybe the TSU 9600 as this looks quite nice

i have no interest in the beo5 as its not my "cup of tea"

how well does the pronto work with Bang & Olufsen equiptment, i know my beo4 can point anywhere and the TV picks up the remote commands, also i have an ILight lighting solution that works with BEO4 commands but the beo4 has to be pointed at it.

does anyone have experiance with the pronto with our lovely brand????

    Re: Philips Pronto and B&o

    Hello!

I had a Pronto a few years ago (my CCF file is still on RemoteCentral), as I had an Avant with a Sony DVD player.

It did it's job, but I did not keep it very long (I bought a DVD1 a few months later), as Beo4 was really far beyond in terms of ease of use.

And of course, I shall not speak of design....

Sorry you don't like Beo5. I really appreciate mine, even if I use my Beo4 from time to time, for operation which are not frequent enough to program a macro.

    hi there

what did you think of the signal strength as my beo4 can operate my tv if pointed away from the TV.

can the beo5 perform macro's and learn other companys remote signals for example if i press format 0 to output the signal to a projector and the beo5 tell a screen to drop and control for example a optoma hd65 ?????

I have no Pronto experiences, but why not use a Lintronic -238 box? The cinema function of your BV7 can control your projector, screen and light(?) just by pressing FORMAT 0 on your Beo4. My Hitachi projector and a Cinescreen are controlled in this way - works great.

yeah i looked at this but have no idea how to set it all up.

    what hardware do you have?

does the lintronic plug into the bv7 rs232 and activate a screen and send signals to the lights to dim when it senses an output on the pins.

i would love to keep the beo4 as long as i can program everything

does the lintronic perform the macro's and control and 3rd party projector?

    Re: Philips Pronto and B&o

You will need a special cable to connect the cinema outs of the BV7 with the digital inputs of the Lintronic box.

Yes, Lintronic performs a macro and control all 3rd party products (or Beo products like LC2s).

My hardware: BV7-40 MKIII, Lintronic -238, Hitachi TX300, 110" Cinescreen, LC2s, Lintronic relay board 108 (controlling blinds).

    Re: Philips Pronto and B&o

this sounds like a better and cheaper way of doing it.

What is the special cable and where are the digital inputs as i cannot see them on the 238 box.

    Re: Philips Pronto and B&o

Cinema output is a 9pin plug. Pin 6 - 7 are cinema out 1 - 2. Pin 5 is ground. You find this -and mre- information in the service manual of BS3 page 92 here on the manual site. Digital inputs at the Lintronic box are on the 9pin plug. Input 1 is Pin 1, input 2 Pin 4. Pin 5 is ground.  Page 8: http://www.lintronic.dk/TableTopVersion-Technical-005.pdf

    So connect Pin6 to 1 , Pin7 to 4 and Pin 5 to 5.

Optoma is on the Lintronic list. Should be no problem to control it via -238 box.

    Hello All

I just got my Optoma HD65 and connected it to my BV7 and its perfect. now i just need to find me a good motorised screen.

My dad is making me a device that will output the on command via IR once it senses an output on the RS232 and it will send out light 9 to my ILight unit for dimming the lights.

Finally my cinema is nearly working

The Optoma is a perfect bit of kit its a shame its not in the PUC list.

    Re: Philips Pronto and B&o

I think, your BV7 can`t return to TV mode, because the Beovision does not receive the command. The IR receiver in your TV is covered by the screen. You have to connect an external IR eye or don`t let the screen come so far down.

I love my pronto. And i love remote central.

Sure it's from a different design era, but it's flexibility and touch panel face is good - cos you can design it how you like.

When i delve in to the B&O world further, i'll surely look at the Beo5

    Hi from Australia!

    Re: Philips Pronto and B&o

    Resolved:

The projector has to be switched off after the tv and not the other way around.

If you turn off the projector b4 the TV the tv will not swap back over into TV mode from cinema mode.

ALl in all working perfectly now and looks fantastic.
