    Beogram 1800 cartridge

Just bought a really nice 1800 / no cartridge. Everything seems to work well. I have a RX with mmc2 cart. and a 2400 with mmc 4000 cartridge. Dumb question? Will either of these cartridges fit the 1800 just for a test? Would like to hear the deck before spending $150. for a new cartridge. Thanks

    Re: Beogram 1800 cartridge

The only problem with this is that the pins in the MMC range can become loose so repeated removing and replacing is not a good idea. The last of the ones available seem to suffer from this in particular. It is clearly a design problem to do with having to wiggle the cartridges in and out as I have heard of some of the Soundsmith cartridges suffering the same problem. However in their case, Soundsmith offer a warranty on their new cartridges so are a better bet if looking for a replacement. The MMC20/MMCX000 range does not suffer nearly so much with this problem - the only fault I have seen a number of times on these is the stylus guard falling off.
