    Noisy Beolab 9

Hi there! My dad just bought a pair of beolab 9 speakers to use backspeakers together with a couple of beolab 5:s. The problem is that they make a lot of noise like a crackling sound. All speakers are connected directly into a beovision 5(early model). First time I plugged them in and started a DVD they gave a noisy, crackling sound but when I changed the speaker setting to beolab 5(lab 9 not available) on the TV, the noise stopped. Later on the noise came back and now it seems a bit random. Sometimes it's noisy and suddenly it goes away. I suspect the powerlinkcables. What do you think?

I'd say it's the PowerLinks as well. Try swapping the cables round, and if that doesn't work, contact your dealer. And welcome to BeoWorld!

Are they on seperate power links or is one BL9 chained of the other? If it's seperate power link and both BL9's make noise then it sounds like it's at the processor end, could need software upgrade or could be faulty rears connections. If it's chained (BV5 to BL9 left then BL9 left to BL9 right) then it's most likely a cable. Try pin point if it's one or both and definitely get your retailer on it. Don't know how they work in your area but in Australia they would come straight out and fix it.

    P.S- Nice setup

Thanks! I'll try switching the cables and see what happens.

Also change the speaker setting for the BeoLab 9's to BeoLab 1's

I tried with another cable and now it's working fine. Thanks!

I have another question. Is it possible to change the cover and how do you do it? The speakers are currently red but it doesn't seem to fit well into the room.

Yes - thumbs up Ah what a relief! Good to hear it's all sorted

I'm just having a look through the Beolab 9 service manual to see if that can be done easily. You can download it from this link here

Ah it looks like you may have to take them into the dealer (to avoid any sort of damage or mistake) to change the colour.

I didn't realise that the 10" woofer was forward facing, i assumed that it was downward firing, just like the BL5's.
