Connecting an Avant to Beosystem 6500/7000
Hi all,
I've just decided to buy an Avant (it's a 1998 model 28" VCR) - because it's for so little £ i thought 'why not!'
I want to hook it up to my beosystem 6500/7000 so I can have TV sound out of the Penta Labs i use with my music set-up.
Could you tell me please which cable(s) I need to buy to do this & which socket points should be used (i.e. does the cable(s) run from my beomaster directly into the back of the TV..?
Could anyone suggest the best place to buy the necessary & how much I should expect to pay.
Many thanks,
Michael.

Re: Connecting an Avant to Beosystem 6500/7000
You need a Beolink converter and one masterlink and a 7 pin din cable. I would suggest connecting the speakers to the Avant if it has a surround module and running the 7000 in Option 0. Did this for a number of years and it works very well.

Re: Connecting an Avant to Beosystem 6500/7000
I'm running a Beosystem 6500 through a 1611 converter to a one of the last types of Beovision AV9000.
This works great.
You will need what Peter sugest. Most of the time the converter is called 1611 for short.
I only have Beovox through the Beomaster and not the AV9000 so I use option 1 on both audio and video.

Re: Connecting an Avant to Beosystem 6500/7000
Ok thanks guys - thanks for your advice - i can see Lifestyle AV are selling the Beolink converter units 1611 & 1614 at about £60.
However, not understanding what you chaps are talking about with the 'Option 0' and 'Option 1' though....? Could you explain that element please?
I'm not sure if the Avant i'm getting (tomorrow) has got the 'surround module'....how do I check that out?
Cheers..
Michael

Re: Connecting an Avant to Beosystem 6500/7000
When both items are connected, you don't want them both to receive an IR signal from your remote, or you will get everything duplicated.| Pressing 7 will result in 77. Not good. The Options sort this problem Option 0 =No Ir signal recieved Option 1 = Only an IR signal for that kind of Master will be received (Audio for audio and video for video) Option 2 = Both types of signal received. Standalone equipment should be in this option. Gets a bit more complicated for link rooms (Options 4,5 and 6) Hope this helps.

Re: Connecting an Avant to Beosystem 6500/7000
Well ok! thanks for that - i'll read that a few more times & i might start undertanding it - possibly!
Should I just buy the Beo converter unit & necessary cables from Lifestyle AV? I dont seem to find any on ebay etc.
Thanks
Michael
