Hello,

I thought I was doing something to cause my Beogram turntable platter no harm by cleaning it with isopropyl alcohol. But the alcohol ended up removing the satin finish on it. Anyone ever done the same thing and tried spraying a finish back on to a platter or found another fix? Or, alternately does anyone have a nice platter for an 8000 that they don't have a use for and would be willing to sell ( I am in the USA but would consider paying shipping anywhere).

I did something similar whilst cleaning a Beocenter 7700 platter last week (my nicest one...  )

I was using warm water and usual washing-up liquid, and all was well until I decided to rinse with hot water so it would dry quicker...  the lacquer clouded, and has remained so...

Don't do it anyone - learn from mine and John's mistakes....

       it could be your lucky day - I'm pretty certain I have a mint-ish platter from a BG5000 which is the same as used on the BC7700. I'll have a look for it tomorrow.
