    Beovision Avant/Beolab 8000 bass issue

Here’s  a bit of an odd one. I have a Beovision Avant 32 DVD connected to Beolab 8000s. Ever since installation I have run it with both the Avant’s internal loudspeakers AND the 8000s operational for television use, until last night when I was fiddling with the settings (well, you’ve got to once in a while, haven’t you?!)

Now, I am aware that the 8000s are not the bassiest loudspeakers in the world but, whilst fiddling, I found that the ‘bottom end’ increased greatly when I switched them off and just used the Avant’s built-in loudspeakers. However, when I change back to the setting that runs the Avant’s speakers AND the 8000s, I seem to be losing the bass reinforcement provided by the Avant’s loudspeakers.

My question is – why am I losing the Avant’s loudspeakers’ bass when I set the 8000s to run at the same time? For reference, I run the bass at +1, treble at ‘0’, Loudness OFF and the subwoofer is set to OFF in the setup menu. Puzzling....

Ah that would be the avant speakers kicking into "center channel" mode
