I lost the little plastic slider that goes on the tonearm, its not in the deck, and its nowhere to be found. My records sound absolutely thin, is there anything I can do to replace this integral piece?
Is my table useless?[:'(]
Don't panic!
The part that is missing simply screws onto the actual couterweight which is inside the tonearm so no your deck isn't ruined If anything it will now be tracking at a slightly lower force than it was due to the weight of the slider missing, this would explain your records sounding "thin" as there isn't quite enough force applied to the stylus now. You can still adjust the tracking force by moving the weight using a pointed object via the small screw hole underneath where the slider was attached. Just move it in very small increments toward the stylus until you get the correct sound levels that you had before or preferably use a tracking weight/scale adjustment kit.
Chris.
The use of metaphors should be avoided like the plague. They're like a red rag to a bull to me.
That is FANTASTIC news, I can definitely fab something up that attaches to it. I guess its time to get a scale and set the tracking force.
Thank you so much for the reply!!!!
