Hi, I am trying to repair a Beaogram CDX model 5123. I have the repair manual by B&O, which includes the trouble shooting guide. I have problem at step number 2 of trouble shooting guide. It says: “Does 4IC6202 pin 6 supplies a low level?” On my pin 6 is 5V all the time even if I press “PLAY”. The laser does not light up. There is an advice in the trouble shooting guide: “Check function around 4IC6202, 4IC6201, control and display. I do not know what I should look for. I do not see any visible damage. Does anybody have more experience with the CDX? What shell I do if one of the ICs is defective? Please help if you can. Thank you.

Re: I need help with repair
Resolder all the rivet via's on the 2 boards that have them. Replace all the 22uF on the decoder board (there's about 20 or so) - or, even better, grab a complete cap kit and do the whole lot while in there. Bad via's and caps easily causes 80% of all faults in these nice machines. Don't trust any IC signals before the above has been taken care off. Martin

Re: I need help with repair
Hi
I have the service manual for the CDX but I don't find a trobleshooting guide in it. Is there some other CDX service document that the site does not have available?
My reason for asking is that I have a CDX on the bench which has been fully recapped and had its rivets attended to but when a disk is inserted and play is pressed the motor just kicks slightly. The same happens when eject is pressed. The display only reads zero but you can get to the other display options. All PSU voltages are normal. Does anybody have any ideas where to look next?
Thanks
Richard

Re: I need help with repair
It is now! The Mautitron manual has the troubleshooting guide at the end which the one I have does not. The one I have scanned is in colour though and is a better scan - both are now there!

Re: I need help with repair
Hello again Peter
Another problem with the scan of the original manual is that it is missing page 1-5 which contains the circuit diagram for the motor control.
Kindest regards
Richard
