The new woofer will complete the range of subwoofers and wont replace the BL2.

I agree with you there.. i don't see it as a good product, because what the heck is the point in having a sub that corrupts your listening experience for music/

I blooming well hope it is discontinued and replaced with something competent and worth the moneyfor all purposes not just movies.

As for the new sub, i can't wait to see what it is like :) I'm anticipating something that has performance at least on par with something like a B&W PV1 sub.

I still think a subwoofer based on the bass end of Beolab 5 and with its room equalisation function would be a superb idea....

    Complete the subwoofer options :

-Beolab 2 : subwoofer meant to play earthquake vibrations, explosions, gunfire, etc on movies.

-New Beolab x : subwoofer meant to have a bit of audio quality for music listening... Maybe less earthquakes in your livingroom but more musicality!

Is it worth using a CONA with a passive convertor as a replacement for a BeoLab 2?

Definitely not. The cona is a very weak subwoofer that was primarily designed to boost the low ranges of the CX speaker series. You would be very disappointed.

I am surprised to hear that people are not happy with the BL2 performance. I use a BL2 next to a set of BL1's and am very happy with the result! The only thing I always emphasize that you need to take your time to set it up properly (positioning is very important as well as level settings).

In my memory most people on this forum were also quite enthusiastic about the BL2 some time ago, but somehow more people tend to speak badly about it lately. Strange....
