Which membrane do you mean? It will depend on the version you have.

The MK1 had a contact sheet with square metal domes taped to the PCB.

The MK2 & early MK3's had an acetate sheet with black electrolytic dots under each button which made contact with raised corrugated contact points on the PCB.

The later ones have 2 differing methods. 1 :- an acetate sandwich with the contacts integrated and is detachable from the PCB by means of a metal strip which grips it at the emitter end. And 2 as above but the acetate sheet is stuck to the PCB and isn't detachable.

Availability will depend on which version you have. If you have a MK1 or 2 then all you can do is fully upgrade by replacing all the internals & the keypad. Unless someone has a spare used part. You can fix these though if you know how.

    Thanks Chris,

I have a MK2 or early Mk 3 with an acetate sheet with black dots, one or two have been worn away.

Are they available from B&O ?

    Thankyou

    Jack

No they aren't Jack but don't despair there is a fix.

You need some electrolytic paint which is available from car accessory shops. It is the stuff used to repair the elements on heated rear windshields. It isn't cheap though.

You can also use aluminium foil dots applied with double sided tape but it isn't quite as good as the above.

I have had success with the aluminium foil fix.

Use the same machine as you use to make holes in paper (don't know the English name...), and attach the alu to the plastic with super glue.

    Yep,

you're right, I've also used this method but instead of super glue I simply stuck some foil to double sided sticky tape before punching them out (we call it a paper/hole punch funnily enough). I found this a lot less messy than using glue.

Is there a way of repairing the one with the non detachable acetate sheet? Just picked one up which has a lazy volume down key. It works but requires more force than any of the other keys.
