    Beovision Avant - Technical Issue

    Gents,

For no apparant reason, my avant has stopped working - I'm no longer getting any response at all.

In short, the standby light won't come on.

I've changed the plug fuse and tried a different wall socket, but sadly the unit won't power up.

When I plug the unit into a working socking I get nothing at all - not even the red standy by light.

    Any suggestions gents??

Sounds like a component failure in the power supply. Unless you are experienced in fixing TVs, a call to an engineer seems in order. If you are lucky, it could be a cheap component!

Long shot - but check the on/off switch !!

You won't be the first avant owner to find "someone" has turned off the avant using the very discrete button - in fact, many people don't even know its there, despite owning the avant for years,

Depending on your Avant, it may be at the back, down near the mains socket, or in a recess under the screen at the front.

This may sound odd, but it isn't that rare for seemingly dead Avants to simply be turned off by accident.  Caused by kids, cleaners,  etc etc.

Failing that - call an engineer.

I know for a fact that sometimes the TV end of the power cord does not fit snuggly into the area at the bottom of the Avant where it goes. Try working the cord while someone else keeps an eye on the standby light. If this does it and you see the light come on, just take a sharp knife and trim around the plug then try sticking it in again. I know this sounds too simple but it happened to me and once the cord was trimmed I've had no problems since.

Last resort call a tech. Not cheap to fix, you pay almost as much as you would for a good used one. It is a shame this stuff is soooo expensive to fix after you've paid for one and then are out of warrenty.

     Good luck,

    Dave

How right you are - I'd knocked the on/off switch

    She's up and running again.

    Many thanks - Superb!!
