I have never liked BeoLab 7.1 or 7.2, but I love the look of this BL8000 idea. Just a shame it won't sound as good.

I have seen a BL3500 used as a centre speaker before, but this is a first!

This guy did serious modification to this speaker ! Which I think it is not easy task !

BL3500 design to be wall mounted speaker.... but this....Smile

Looks like he cut up two BL8000s to get the flat casings at either end - probably a good centre speaker, this.

Wouldn't sound so special - the drivers aren't symmetrical.

    Looks beautiful, but sound?

I test every now and then different combinations for audio in my home theatre setup. With my ears BL7-1 beats two BL8000's. If the BL8000's are helped by a BL2 it is a tight fight.

    Ingenious!
I wonder if the drivers have been shuffled about inside.

I'm interested what kind of modification he did....  maybe he did something inside....

if he did that he is probably a great engineer!

I must admit at first galance it look to me little bit strange but as much as I look I started to like it !

(Sorry, Martin. I was certain I had quoted Alex, who said that the sound wouldn't be good. We don't know!)

I thought a lot of the "guts" of a BL8000 was in the cone at the bottom?

If you were going to all that trouble to chop the case up, it would make sense to shift the drivers around into a d'Appolito configuration (with the tweeter in the middle and the woofers on either side) and move them to the centre of the tube.  However, I suspect that the effectiveness ofthe 8000 as a centre speaker would be limited, especially considering the non-switchable "bass boost" circuitry fitted inside.

Looks great, though and I take my hat off to the butcher craftsman who built it - you are a braver man than I am! Stick out tongue

No, I (reluctantly) ceiling-mounted some 6000's upside-down for a customer a few months ago, but I never thought to get a picture.  8000's would probably work better, but even then I'm not too sure about the end result! Unsure

A pair of upside-down 8000s was done somewhere here in Bath quite a few years ago I think. Works very well as long as the ceiling isn't just plasterboard underneath the joists!
