Re: beosound 4 and beolab 2

    Hi there.
Yes, you connect the Beolab 2 to your Beosound 4, then both your 8000s to the Beolab 2.
This way, the Beolab 2 handles the lower frequencies and leaves the 8000s to handle the rest.
For some strange reason, 8000s can't be daisy-chained

    hi Tingen,

daisy-chain is when you connect your speakers in a chain,

ex. you only need one powerlinkcable from your BS4 to your

first speaker and then you connect another powerlinkcable form the first

speaker to the second one. Both left and right signal is in the cable.

This way could sometimes make it much easier to plan for the wiring.

    Strange?

Are you sure Andy that you can't daisy-chained BL8000 ?

As I know you can daisy-chained every BL speakers ....

You can't do it with BeoLab 8000s because they don't have dual PowerLink sockets. There is a T-Adapter available from B&O which allows you to daisy chain them though.

The standard T-Adaptor available from B&O is a poor solution, unless you want to see unsightly wiring at the back of the 8000's.  Better still buy, for example a 1m powerlink cable, a T-Adaptor and a female to female adaptor in order to make off the daisy chain connection somewhere less conspicuous.

I agree with KingOfSnake. My parents did the same, and this way you can use the thick rubber cablecovers that were designed to go with the 8000s.

Another speaker missing the second PowerLink socket is BeoLab 4. I my view BeoPort and BL4 are the perfect PC pack, and therefore I think it is a bit annoying that the BeoPort only have one PowerLink out so you have to buy a T-splitter if you want to connect BL4s to it.

It's worth noting that you don't actually need to daisy-chain speakers connected to a BeoLab 2, as it has two PowerLink outputs.

    Good point!

However, for anyone reading doesn't have a Beolab 2, but wants to add numerous Beolab 3 or Beolab 8000 speakers together (both of these have only one Powerlink socket fitted), you can use a "Y" adapter to give an extra socket.  Yes, the B&O version is too short for tidiness in many situations, but these can be found in longer lengths from other cable companies to allow the wiring to be hidden into cable covers/stands.

    Best regards,

    Steve.

Re: beosound 4 and beolab 2

Usually however, installers tend to wire a PowerLink junction themselves, which is more discrete and much more reliable when done properly.
