    Beosound 2 fried?

Hi guys, long time observer of the forum but I have to put a question through to you now, I recently connected my beosound 2 to my PC and didnt think anything of it at the time but my PC rebooted itself, it was only when I went to use the player when I realised it might have been the cause of the reboot, as it is not powering up - nor are the lights showing up on the dock.. Im assuming there was some sort of short circuit(?) and it is now an EX beosound 2...?

I have tried all the possible button combinations to revive it? Is there anything else I could try? Will B&O offer any repair facility for this? Or is it time to move on and get a new player?

On another note, has anyone compared the sound quality with an iPhone or Touch to the Beosound 2? Im wondering whether or not to rebuy or try something else now.

    Cheers

    Rich

If no lights show on the charger, check the fuse. If nothing doing, it doesn't sound good but probably worth taking in for service. The touch and iPhone do not sound as good in my experience but I prefer my classic to those. Not had a BS2 for a little while now.

I had one of my Beosound 2 units totally rebuilt by B&O (America) after 3 years of consistent use, a weak battery, and one ride through the washing machine. They did a nice job and I am using it regularly again. The sound of the BS2 is superior to any other mp3 player that I have heard, particularly in comparison with the Apple offerings.

I can't tell you what the exact problem is, but it might be a loose connection or problem inside the docking station. I have had to replace the cable going into the dock before. First thing to do is go to your dealer and ask him to find the source of the problem, don't forget to take your docking station as well as your BeoSound 2, so that he can test out both items in store.

If everything can be fixed swiftly as I'm sure it will, I would keep using the BeoSound 2 if you are happy with it. I was loyal to my BeoSound 2 for 5 years, but only this year decided to buy an iPod Nano for a larger music library. My BeoSound 2 is still my primary MP3 player for its better sound quality, design and feel. This is my day-to-day player, while my iPod I take with me if I'm abroad and don't have my laptop.
