Strange One for the technical of you

    my setup

    BV7-40mkiii with 4 x BL6000 and BL7.1  yes its a 7.1 master link to BS3000 and BL3500

on only one of the BL6000 we pick up when switched on classic fm,  so when you mute the TV you hear very very faintly classic fm,  I ahve swapped around the speakers and its not them, could this be to do with the powerlink cable.

Had a similar problem, that stopped when I reconnected properly some scart cables. Weird!?!

    Hi:

I know nothing of the modern cable and connection standards as I am deliberately staying with CRT. That said, this sounds like a shielding issue with your connections. If you are using scarts (prob not) buy proper shielded ones and the same applies for all other connectors.

I am feeling around in the dark yet am almost certain that this is what it is - my friend had a big Marshall guitar amp, effects pedal and electric guitar all connected up with a mass of tangled phono cables and he could pick faint radio broadcasts too. Whenever there is a mass of cabling connected to speakers this seems to be an issue.

    Thanks

    Graham,

If it makes you feel better, there are people in Greensboro, North Carolina USA who can sometimes pick up Radio Free Europe and Voice of America on cast iron cookware!

I agree with the  crowd, a bad cable or connection is the likely cause.

Your problem is fairly common and is most likely caused by either a bad ground connection or an earth loop.

You pick up classic FM normally because the wire/cable in question just happens to be the length near or equal to the standing frequency or sub-divisions of the broadcast frequency.

Clearly the first focus should be the powerlink cables and I suggest to prove if that is where the problem is you connect a wire between the screen of the powerlink plug and mains earth. If classic FM goes, then you have found the area of the problem.

    Regards Keith....
