    RS232 interface on BS3

    Hi,

I have a BV9 and want to connect the BS 3 to a home automation system.
I can interface with RS232 to this system, so i'm looking for a device which can accept commands via RS232 and convert it to the ML cable. The goal is also to receive information form the system in which status it is
I can use the lintronic box, but there is no ML cable connection, so it can not know the status of the system.
I can see there is a RS232 connection on the BS3, Is it possible to use this one ?

Does anyone have experience with this ?

The RS232 connection is used to command a plasma panel from e.g. Panasonic or Pioneer.

Instructions are send to manage several functions like switching on/off, format etc.

There is a connector called "cinema".
The ref guide says "for connection to home automation systems"
It is a DB9 connector just near the monitor RS232
So my guess is it's a RS232 or RS485 bus
I supose this can be used to communicate but i can not find any description of it ....

    Re: RS232 interface on BS3

The cinema control connector does support only two triggers currently. Not sure how it is wired in the box and a future software update may enhance the functinality, but today it is used to allow external control units to understand the status of the two cinema timers in the BS3.

With the lintronic box you are able to control certain functions of the BS3 via RS232, this is documented on their website.

However, a "full" RS232 control does not work. If budget is not an issue, you may want to have a closer look at crestron, they offer a ML interface to their solution.
