Beocord 9000 problem, it does everything, but no sound!

    Hi everyone,

I still have a Beocord 9000 cassette deck that worked fine until today. All buttons, motors, displays and other functions work fine, but there is no output of sound. When I turn the volume very high, you can only hear some faint music. Same situation when I plug in a headphone on the Beocord 9000 directly and put the seperate headphone volume control on the unit to 10. Humming and only very faint music. Has anybody experienced the same problem with an older Beocord? Could it be the caps and does Dillen have a kit, or is it something else? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!!!

Yes - it could be a sign of aging capacitors.

Yes - a capacitor kit is available.

But - there can also be other reasons for the missing sound.

Did you open the Beocord prior to the fault ?

Does the VU meters show the signal from the tape ?

    Hi Dillen,

Yes I opened the Beocord, but after the fault occured, to clean slight oxidation on the transformer connector plug. I read this on the forum. The VU meters give a signal, but even when the tape is still on the blank part at the start. So the VU seems to react to something else then the tape.
