Beocenter 6-26 DVI port connected to HDMI Samsung 360 decoder does not work

Because we want digital cable channels on our BC6-26 our dealer adviced us to buy a Samsung DVB H360R decoder and connect it with an HDMI to DVI cable to the TV. Guess what: It doens'n work. No video signal.

Does someone know why this is not working?

Is there a way to get it working (with the HDMI-DVI cable)?

BC26-6 is bought in dec 2007. Type is 9280. Serial number is 20406788.

    Hi Piet,

Sorry but it will never work, because the BV6 in not HDCP compatitble. See this site for more details on HDCP.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDCP

It is really bad that B&O havent released a HDCP DVI/HDMI input device that can be fitted to the TV as it means we can never use things like PS3's to there potential...You can only use the Scart converters or camcorder inputs.

    Have fun :-)

    Thanks TC,

I am surprised. So this means that the Samsung decoder needs devices that supports HDCP. Is that the problem? B&O doesn't have a licence for HDCP???

In the decoder manual there is not a word about HDCP.

You said that you had a BC6 and not a BV6?

    If you have a BC6 it's HD-Ready with a HDCP-ready DVI input.

I have a BC6-26 and will try it with a Humax HDTV STB with DVI later this week.

    Yes, it is a BC6-26, HD-ready.

Question is why the decoder is not working.

The dealer tried the decoder on a BV7-32 (MK3) --> not working

    With a BV7-40 --> decoder working perfectly.

Why, why why...........who has the answer???

    Hi Guys,

Sorry my fault, i thought you had a BV6 26 (Opps read it wrong....)

Still, I wish mine was the later model with HDCP!

    Hello everyone,

I am still struggle with this problem. An update:
BC6-26 type 9280 is ready for HD TV and supports HDCP on the DVI port. This information was found on the B&O intranet by my dealer.

So it should work. In the demo area of my dealer was the same Samsung decoder only 1,5 years old. And guess what: Connection of this decoder with the HDMI-DVI cable works file Party!!!. To bad that my dealer did't want to give me that decoder. We tried 3 new Samsung DVB H360R decoders. Not one is working on the DVI port No - thumbs down.

So there must be a difference between the old and new decoders?

    Do anyone has a clue???????

For now the decoder is connected by the YPbPr ports.

    HI

Have you done all your settings correctly. You need to choose stb(dtv) under connections and AV 4. Furthermore i can tell that when hooking up my appletv, it took some time before it worked. That was also the case at my friends house. Dont know why that is, and did not change anything in my setup to make it work, it just suddenly did.

    Anyway, Good luck

Is the decoder working on the YPbPr ports? If it is why don't you leave it connected there? The BV-6 (with HD upgrade) and BC-6 (HD ready) accept an HD (720p) signal through these ports.

It is connected on the YPbPr ports. And thats working fine. But when I bougth the decoder the advice was to connect it digital (HDMI to DVI). It should work, thats what B&O said. And that is my problem. They say: "it works" but it doesn't work.

Have you set the YPbPr ports to HD TV in the menu of the BC6?

Re: Beocenter 6-26 DVI port connected to HDMI Samsung 360 decoder does not work

Last update for anyone who wants to know

The solution is replacing the Samsung decoder for an Humax IRHD-5000C. This is working the way it's ment to be. Connected by HDMI to DVI port. Audio is connected from Humax Audio L/R (clinch) to Scart (AV1) of the Beocenter 6. The clinch connection from the BC6-26 seems to work only with YPbPr video connection.

IR output from the BC6-26 is also connected, so most commands can be done with BEO4 or 5.
