Peter, from my point of view a BEO5 would not help in this type of setup. The Samsung projector is controlled by the BS3 (like a PUC) and the "action" is triggered by the FORMAT 0 command and the cinema control setting in the customer service menu. So it is a fully automated process.
In my setup I have a JVC HD1 controlled by a Lintronic box via RS232. The Lintronic box listens to the trigger output of the BS3 and switches the projector on and off acording to the cinema control settings. Compared to the IR controll of the JVC projector there is no box "Do you really really want to switch off?" via RS232. Nice!
So in general RS232 is much more reliable than IR. Not sure if the Samsung could work in the same way.
