    BS3 and Sansung Projector Off

I have a Samsung SP-A880B projector and BS3 cinema set-up and Lutron for the lights ( No TV is this ) and is failing quite often to turn off the projector off and less often on . When it's working as it should the curtain closes then the Samsung switch off " Yes/No " box appears , it highlights the Yes Box and turns off . Occasionally this Yes/No box doesn't appear or sticks on NO then the projector gives out a bright blue light , I think this blue light is because the BS3 has stopped the signal . Have altered the timings for the screen and drop but makes no difference and moved the blaster a few times but its very obvious where that should be . I think this off signal from the BS3 is in three stages , turn off , highlight  yes and then confirm and seams to be failing to send them all or to quickly , any ideas ?

Richard, are you using a BEO5 remote ?. Becuase I understand you could set up the various timing delays to suit the equipment and how it should operate in sequence.

PS: I  am just about to have installed the same system. Anmy tips for me as to what I should watch out for. YOu could PM me if possible ?

Peter, from my point of view a BEO5 would not help in this type of setup. The Samsung projector is controlled by the BS3 (like a PUC) and the "action" is triggered by the FORMAT 0 command and the cinema control setting in the customer service menu. So it is a fully automated process.

In my setup I have a JVC HD1 controlled by a Lintronic box via RS232. The Lintronic box listens to the trigger output of the BS3 and switches the projector on and off acording to the cinema control settings. Compared to the IR controll of the JVC projector there is no box "Do you really really want to switch off?" via RS232. Nice!

So in general RS232 is much more reliable than IR. Not sure if the Samsung could work in the same way.

Hi . I've no complaints on picture quality , HD is excellent , Blu-Ray and Sky HD . SD DVD is very good but you loose a bit of detail with distance shots but it's enlarged to 92" and I'm viewing at 4 mts. There is no tombstone adjustment on this projector so the lower you can get it the better , mine is 500 mm above so get a slightly narrower picture at the top but not distracting . I might be wrong but this off command is part of the conversion software for this Samsung and don't think my Beo5 can be programmed to send the three commands with delays needed to turn it off  but will ask , the engineer is coming Friday to try and sort this out . I got hold of a Beo4 Cinema but wish I hadn't bothered , not that bright and eats batteries to maintain a reasonable illumination . I've think this projector is about £2200 with vat now so don't pay over the odds.

Re: BS3 and Sansung Projector Off

B&o came round Friday ,and the projector failed to turn off while he was there , he extended the timers and put it thru a few cycles , all was well . But over the weekend it has got so it's failing nearly every time . I think a hard reset may restore back to correct function but I'm thinking it will deteriorate again and don't want to do that till I have a word with him tomorrow . He's has contacted Denmark and there are software issues ( 4.24 ) but looks like it's going to take a while to resolve .
Anyone else got this Samsung projector and Bs3 , what are your timers setings ( drop , screen and projector ) as my man says these are critical with the 4.24 software ?

First of all thanks for letting us know. MY Projector, Stewart Screen, BS3 etc arrives in about 2 weeks. James the showroom Manager is very knowledgable and has spent some time playing with the same setup in the B&O store. He likes it so much that he has also bought the same setup for his home. So, this does bode well. When mine is set up I shall reply with the settings and let you know.

Just done a power disconnect re-set and is now working as it should at the moment , before the Samsung off confirm boxes ( Yes/No ) gradually appeared for a shorter time each time I shut down till they didn't show at all , will see what happens over the next few days .
