Beolab 4000's are for those of us on a budget...

Great speakers for those who can't afford Beolab 8000's

    Any comments on this statement?

Beolab 4000s are without a doubt wonderful speakers. For awhile we had 4000s in a link room and 1s in the main room and I found myself frequently choosing the 4000s for music over the 1s. Arguably the best value available in B and O speakers. I was lucky enough to get a pair from a dealer that were on display, needed new grills, for less than the cost of a pair of Beolab 4s.

    Beovision 7-55 with Beolab 7-4, 9s and 4000s

    Beovision 10-40 with Beolab 1s and 6000s

    Beosound 1, 5, 2000, and 3000

    Beotime, Beotalk, Beocoms

They are storming good speakers, sound good everywhere except outdoors, and are just timeless in their design. They have a different (nicer) timbre in the lower register than the 8000's, at half the price. Ridiculous! I'm not sure i want to upgrade to bigger beolabs...

The statement i posted was sent to me courtesy of an ebay seller offering 8000's a while ago, which i didn't end up going for. Some people just seem to enjoy insulting strangers via e-mail! Huh?

While I adore the 4000's sound and design-wise I am a bit curious about the new ICEpower-ed 4000's. I recall a member saying that they sound like a tin box. Can anyone comment on that - did you hear or even compare the ICE 4000's and the "old" 4000?

Haven't heard the new ones, but have read that the change in the amplifiers was for financial benefits
