    Overture Tape Deck

    Hi:

    Quick question about the Overture.

    1) When I press "play" with no cassette loaded, the deck does nothing. (expected)

    2) When I press "tape" with no cassette loaded, the head block will engage and the spooling spindle rotate.

It has been suggested that this a function to enable easier cleaning of the tape heads however I did not find reference to this in the manual.

Is this a "feature" or a "fault?"

Can you check if you own one or a derivative?

    Thanks,

    Derek

    Guy:

    Thanks for your response.

So this is strange 3 units of the same model, 3 different behaviors?

Can we have a larger sample from other members?

    Thanks,

    Derek

My ouverture did the same thing as yours did Derek, i don't think there's anything to worry about.

Re: Overture Tape Deck / 2way IR?

    Dave, Beodim:

Thank you for your response. Now I can sleep better :)

BTW, do you know if the Overture supports 2way remote? Mine comes with the Beo4 but thinking of getting the BL5000.

    Thanks,

    Derek

    Hi Derek!

The Ouverture is a one-way product. From this design series only the Beocenter2500 and the early BC2300 were two-way capable.

As for the Beolink5000 itself: Designwise a nice remonte but not very durable (contrary to the Beolink1000 or the Beo4). Pixel faults in the display (missing lines) a very common and not easy to repair as the display cannot be changed without changing the whole printboard.

    cheers
