    PENTA SPEAKERS

Have any of you guys really appreciated how good these babies are ????

I love music and have done for more than 30 years - but it's only recently that I can really appreciate true old skool hifi sound

OK my good old dad used to try and bang out tunes on his Ditton Celestions but my Penta's ..........woooo my neighbours love me .... NOT

I guess alot of you posters will be young blokes (sub 40 year olds) ................

Believe me 20 odd years ago Penta's were way tooooooo expensive

Sorry for reminising................. Am I glad I blagged a cheap pair on Ebay.

Totally bloody brilliant - try listening to Armin Vn Buuren through them -

I bought some of the last new ones available. Excellent speakers - best if you are sitting down though as the tweeters are then at the correct level!

I think you will find enough of us on here to start a sizeable "Penta Apreciation Club"

... I also think that you will find a lot of us are old critters (post 40)

My Pentas cost me £2350 in 1993, money well spent. I wonder how that compares with Beolab 5s in 2008Hmm

Actually not that much - £3337 in today's money - inflation has been pretty low!

    Re: PENTA SPEAKERS

I was watching Star Trek Generations on Laserdisc the other day. I know that there are arguments around why the sound is better on Laserdisc as opposed to DVD re compression etc. However, I was watching this using only my Beovision 1 speakers through standard rubbishy scart connections and I was amazed - this sounds so much better than my parents £500 ish Yamaha surround system. It was all driven through that one understated speaker under my TV and I was blown away. I dread to think h good it would have sounded through a set of pentas and a Beo sub. The Beovision one meant to be a secondary TV - it is better than anything I have ever head on the High Street. It looks fantastic and reproduces Laserdiscs the way they were meant to be heard. I imagine...

Why oh why could B&O not have just plonked the penta's into the BL1 cabinet? [:'(]
