I have in my loft room, the following

Beosound 4 with Beolab 6000  masterlinked to Beoport with Beolab 4000

now when listening to N.Music from the PC via the Beosound 4 and Lab6000 i get what sounds like crackling on the lab 6000s but when listening to the same music on the lab 4000s i dont get this crackling.

    any ideas

    Re: Help needed

Does the crackling only happen when you are listening to N.Music on the Beosound 4. What about Radio, CD and the SD card?

Are you able to try another Masterlink cable?

Try dusting the connection on BeoPort. Otherwise this is unfortunately too technical for me. Sad

    Re: Help needed

Jon, I wonder if the problem could be with your PC soundcard? Can you plug a pair of headphones into the soundcard to try it?

I dont think the problem is with the soundcard on the PC as the feed from this goes to the BEOPORT and the feed from the beoport to the speakers is OK, its just the when the BS4 is being fed by the BEOPORT, taking a feed from the soundcard to the AUX port on the BS4 works fine.

    Re: Help needed

    Jon,

To recap and make sure I have your "Problem Statement" correctly understood

    • Listening to N.Music on through your Beosound 4 and Beolab 6000's gives a crackling noise, but DAB,CD, Radio is fine. Also listen to N.Music over the Beolab 4000's connected to the Beoport works perfectly.
    • You have replaced the Masterlink Cable and mains cable.

However, you did not confirm if N.Radio gives the problem in the same way as N.Music ? Please confirm

Assuming nothing else is connected to the Masterlink cable other than the Beosound 4 and Beoport and N.Music AND N.Radio give the same problem, then the problem is either with the PC or you have an earthing issue.

    Regards Keith....
